Keep the conversation in a skilful manner
Once having won the attention of the person in front of you, you should do everything possible to keep him/her and to make him/her feel a full satisfaction of the communication with you.
For this purpose you should continuously feed the discussed topic with intriguing questions, which should urge your partner to go deeper into the topic and to develop it. And from the development you should make use of new possibilities for going deeper by means of linking questions. You should try to ask such questions, which couldn’t be answered by means of a short and synonymous “YES or NO”, because this would lead the conversation into a death row and there should be no further interest of the topic.
Try to use more adjectives when telling a story. This should give your partner a better idea for the events and their environment. In this way he/she shall get deeper into your stories and his/her interest shall grow intensively. Your partner shall live over the story you are telling and shall be able to imagine as if he/she had been there, too.
Try to ask questions, which are not intrusive and direct. They should rathre follow the natural rhythm of the conversation, without making it too haste. Try continuously to follow the reactions of the person in front of you. Regardless of these being grimaces, gestures, changes in the intonation or absent-mindedness. Each one of these marks shall give you correct and clear signals over the direction into which you should advance with the conversation and in what manner to communicate with the person you are talking to.
Be carefull not to take the full initiative in the course of the conversation. Try proportionally asking new questions and answering the questions you’ve been asked. Without turning the conversation into a boring and laudatory monologue. This could result in a total distraction of the person who you are talking to and to break off the connection between you both.
Lead the conversation in such a way so that the used and developed by you topics could lead to the end, which you desire. So that you could draw maximum benefits from the conversation you have had.

Thanks for the article, all good advice on conversation when dating! I believe it’s very important for those dating to firstly find the RIGHT person for them as there is no point trying to impress someone through clever conversation who is not right for you (if looking for a serious relationship). That said too many people do find the right one, and then appear boring or lack in conversation skills!
